Chef Mingoo Kang's Mingles was named No. 44 at the World's 50 Best Restaurants (W50B) ceremony held on June 5 (local time) in Las Vegas, United States. Alongside the Michelin Guide, W50B is one of the world's most authoritative gastronomy awards. The UK's William Reed Business Media has selected the world's 50 best restaurants every year since 2002. This is the first time a restaurant based in Korea has appeared on W50B — as opposed to its regional counterpart, Asia's 50 Best Restaurants (A50B), which is limited to Asian venues.
Atomix, the Korean restaurant in New York that was crowned North America's best after landing at No. 8 on W50B last year, climbed two spots to No. 6 this year. Run by Chef Park Jung-hyun, Atomix has held two Michelin stars every year from 2018 through last year. Chef Sungjae An's Mosu was placed at No. 86 on the 51-to-100 list unveiled ahead of the ceremony. This year's No. 1 went to Spain's Disfrutar, which had been last year's No. 2.
